Gujarat: The first phase of the assembly elections of Gujarat is underway. As per reports, around 35% of voters turned out for voting till 1 pm. The voting started at around 8 am. The second phase of the election will be on November 5 and the result will be declared on Nov 8.
Earlier in the day, many big leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and AAP CM Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the people to vote in large numbers. Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja cast his vote along with his wife and BJP candidate Rivaba. Members of Rajkot’s royal family also cast their votes.
Ahead of the phase 2 elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, today addressed a public meeting in Kalol in Gujarat. During this, he fiercely attacked Congress. The PM first hit back at Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge’s ‘Ravana’ statement and said, “There is a competition in Congress as to who can abuse me and how much. I respect Kharge Ji. He will say only what he is asked to say. The Congress party does not know that this is the Gujarat of Ram Bhakts. In this land of devotees of Ram, Kharge Ji was asked to call me Ravana with 100 heads and he did so.” Later, he asked the people to cast their votes wisely.
The enthusiasm for voting in the Gujarat elections is seen among the people. Along with ministers in the central and state government, celebrities and common people are also taking part in voting with too much enthusiasm. Meanwhile, a unique sight was witnessed at a polling station in Tapi. There, a person went to vote wearing a wedding sherwani.
He reached the polling booth to cast his vote despite the time being fixed for his marriage. The shocking part is that his marriage is to be held in Maharashtra. But this young man came to vote while giving importance to it over his marriage. The voting is expected to conclude by 5 pm today.
