New Delhi: Gopal Italia, the Gujarat chief of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who was detained on Thursday from the office of the National Commission of Women (NCW) in New Delhi has been released today. According to Delhi Police, a complaint was received claiming Italia;s supporters were creating ruckus outside the NCW building following which a team of police reached the spot to detain him.
Italia was summoned by the NCW today for questioning on the matter and had recently stoked controversy over a purported remarks asking Hindu women not to go to temples and do kathas as they are places of exploitation.
Earlier this week, a video of Italia had gone viral in which he was heard berating the prime minister and making derogatory remarks. While Italia was at the NCW office, several APP workers gathered in larger numbers to protest against his summon.
