Patna: The four-day long Chhath Puja festival began in Bihar on Saturday. Devotees prepared for the fast on the first day, celebrating “Nahay-Khaay.” An atmosphere of excitement is evident across the state, with preparations underway for Chhath Puja. Devotees are busy with religious rituals, cleaning the ghats, decorating them, and arranging puja materials. Following Nahay-Khaay, the traditional fast of Kharna and offering prayers to the setting and rising sun is observed. However, amidst this religious and cultural celebration, politics also dominated the headlines. RJD supremo Lalu Yadav sharply criticized the NDA government, calling it the “uncrowned king of lies and the master of rhetoric.” He questioned the government’s handling of railway services during the Chhath festival.
Lalu Yadav shared a post on his X account (formerly Twitter) stating that the government had claimed that approximately 12,000 of the total 13,198 trains would run for the Chhath festival in Bihar. However, according to him, this claim was merely a “blatant lie.” He wrote that this situation is extremely distressing for people facing migration problems in Bihar, as even during the festival, residents are unable to access smooth railway service.
He further quipped that due to the “double-engine” government’s flawed policies, more than 40 million people leave Bihar every year to seek employment in other states. Lalu Yadav said that after the UPA government, the NDA government has not established any major industries in Bihar, reflecting an anti-Bihar attitude. His accusation was clearly directed at the government’s indifference towards the people of Bihar.
It was announced that 12,000 special trains would run.
The Railways Department had announced the running of 12,000 special trains for the convenience of passengers during the festive season. The purpose of these special trains was to ensure that devotees could easily reach their homes during the festival. The Railways had also planned to run several Puja special trains. Trains are not running enough However, Lalu Yadav questioned this plan and claimed that trains are not running enough. He argued that the people of the state are facing many difficulties during travel, which reflects the failure of the government’s policies and its indifference towards Bihar.
