BJP Member of Parliament Jayant Sinha has formally asked the party’s president, JP Nadda, to release him from direct electoral responsibilities, signaling his intention not to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha election. Sinha expressed his desire to focus on combating global climate change. In a statement on X, the BJP MP stated, “I have requested Hon’ble Party President Shri @JPNaddaji to relieve me of my direct electoral duties so that I can focus my efforts on combating global climate change in Bharat and around the world.” He assured that despite stepping back from electoral duties, he will continue to collaborate with the party on economic and governance matters.

Sinha, who represents Hazaribagh in Jharkhand, acknowledged the privilege of serving the people for the past decade and expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the BJP leadership. He affirmed his commitment to working on economic and governance issues with the party. Jayant Sinha has a significant political background, having served in India’s council of ministers from 2014 to 2019 and holding roles such as Minister of State for Finance and Minister of State of Civil Aviation. Notably, he played a crucial role in the launch of the UDAN regional connectivity scheme, contributing to a 50 percent increase in operational airports in India over three years. Sinha also spearheaded digital initiatives like the ‘DigitalSky Drone policy’ and the ‘DigiYatra’ digital traveler program.

This development follows BJP MP Gautam Gambhir’s similar request to JP Nadda, seeking relief from political duties to concentrate on his cricket commitments. Both Sinha and Gambhir express gratitude for the opportunities provided by the party and its leadership.
