Mumbai: According to media reports there are speculations, about Abhishek Bachchan, a known actor and the son of the Amitabh Bachchan venturing into the realm of politics in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. It is being said that he might explore the option of contesting from the Allahabad constituency with the Samajwadi Party viewing him as a candidate.
The state leadership of the party is reportedly gathering feedback from local party members regarding this possibility. Some of the rumours even say that SP President, Akhilesh Yadav is having plans to visit Mumbai. The purpose of this visit would be to meet with Amitabh Bachchan, actor and Rajya Sabha member Jaya Bachchan. It is speculated that they would discuss the possibility of Abhishek Bachchan making his entry, into politics. If Abhishek Bachchan indeed contests the election, it is expected to add an intriguing dynamic to the electoral landscape.
It is worth noting that the city of Allahabad holds a special significance for the Bachchan family. Amitabh Bachchan also took part in the Lok Sabha Elections during the year 1984 for the Congress party in the Allahabad region.
His victory over former Chief Minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna was a surprising turn of events, as Amitabh secured an impressive 68 percent of the votes, while Bahuguna received 25 percent. The Bachchan family’s strong connection to Allahabad adds further interest to the potential candidacy of Abhishek Bachchan in the upcoming elections.
