New Delhi: Over 300 opposition MPs from 25 opposition parties will march from the Parliament to the Election Commission of India (ECI) headquarters situated in Delhi on Monday. Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is to lead a protest march of INDIA bloc MPs to protest alleged “vote chori” (vote theft) in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls and the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar.
On Monday (August 11, 2025), Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge will host the MPs for a dinner meeting to formulate a common strategy on the issue of the alleged poll fraud.
Mr. Gandhi, on his X handle, gave the link to a web portal and a phone number and urged people to register themselves either on the portal or by giving a missed call to the number. He wrote on X, “Vote Chori is an attack on the foundational idea of ‘one man, one vote’. A clean voter roll is imperative for free and fair elections”.
Interestingly, anyone who registers on the portal receives a certificate that is issued in his name, which states that he stands against “vote chori”. “I support Rahul Gandhi’s demand of digital voter rolls from the EC,” the certificate says.
The Delhi Police is unlikely to permit the march to reach the EC office, which is less than 2 km away. According to a Congress communique, “MPs of Opposition parties (LS & RS) to march from Makar Dwar in Parliament to Nirvachan Sadan (Election Commission), New Delhi via Transport Bhawan at 11.30 AM, tomorrow, August 11, 2025.”
