Punjab: As the Congress attempts to select a replacement for Captain Amarinder Singh, the committee will meet again on Sunday to make a final selection. Another Congress Legislative Party (CLP) meeting has been scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. at Congress Bhawan in Chandigarh to discuss who would be the ideal candidate to succeed Amarinder. All Ministers, MLAs, Harish Rawat and Harish Chaudhary, as well as Ajay Maken, a Central Congress observer will attend the meeting.

Captain described himself as “humiliated” and ended the ruthless power struggle with Navjot Singh Sidhu, and put in his papers after speaking with party president Sonia Gandhi. While the Assembly elections are to be held in less than five months,

Punjab’s Congress Legislative Party (CLP) has delegated the task of selecting the state’s new chief minister to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. Sunil Jakhar, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and Partap Singh Bajwa are four prominent Congress officials who have been mentioned as possible contenders for the position.

The next Punjab Chief Minister’s effective term will be limited, given the state’s assembly elections in February 2022 and the fact that the Election Commission will implement the model code of conduct in the state well in advance. Based on the results of the 2017 election, the code of conduct should be implemented by the first week of January 2022, giving the new Chief Minister just over 12 weeks to make an impression.
