Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh resigned today hours after he was asked to step down from his post. The minister met the governor at his residence and handed him the resignation letter.
The resignation was announced through a tweet by the ex-chief minister’s son, Raninder Singh.
Captain said in a press conference held at Raj Bhavan today that he has no plans to quit the Congress party. He further added that future politics shall always remain an option. He shall reveal his further plans after discussions with loyalists.
Earlier in the morning, Congress High Command, Shrimati Sonia Gandhi asked Captain to resign from the post amid the ongoing tussle with the recently appointed chief of Punjab unit Congress, Navjot Singh Sidhu.
