Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit poll-bound Bihar’s Purnea district today to address a rally and launch development projects worth ₹36,000 crore. During his visit, the PM will inaugurate a newly developed airport terminal at the north Bihar district, which would fulfil the region’s long-standing demand for air connectivity.
He will also participate in Griha Pravesh ceremonies for over 40,000 PMAY beneficiaries and distribute ₹500 crore to women’s self-help groups under DAY-NRLM.
Elaborate security measures are in place in the district, where plying of vehicles on national and state highways will also remain suspended for 24 hours, beginning midnight Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, PM Modi was on a state visit to Assam where he said that Assam, currently ruled by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led coalition, was facing a demographic challenge due to the Congress’ backing of infiltrators for votes.
“The Assam government is evicting encroachers, and providing deprived people land rights,” he said while addressing a rally in Assam’s Numaligarh town in Golaghat district.
Taking aim at both the Centre and the State government, Tejashwi Yadav remarked, “I would urge the PM that after having his fill of tirade against jungle raj (RJD rule), he visit the GMCH. The stark failures of the double-engine government will stare him in the face. He must also bring along Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who loves to brag that after he took over in 2005, all has been good.”
