On Monday, the CID will investigate the allegations made against former Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO).

According to sources, on February 2, 2024, BS Yediyurappa allegedly sexually molested the daughter of a 17-year-old female. She died of lung cancer shortly after filing a complaint against the BJP politician in March. Additionally, the victim’s brother petitioned the court against Yediyurappa. He was charged with sexual harassment under the POCSO Act under Section 354(A) of the IPC based on the complaint.

According to media sources, Yediyurappa was reportedly approached by the victim and her mother for assistance in relation to another rape case. The mother claims that after taking the teenage daughter to a different room and locking it, he assaulted her. Yeddyurappa declared. “Checking whether she was raped or not”.

Following the mother’s complaint, Karnataka Director General of police Alok Mohan referred the case to the CID on March 14, according to media reports. The CID took his voice sample in April as part of their evidence collection. The BJP leader was given an extension because he was in Delhi on June 12, despite the CID’s request to attend on that date.

Soon after the Sadashivanagar police filed a complaint on March 14, Karnataka Director General of Police Alok Mohan issued an order immediately moving the case to the CID for additional investigation.

Earlier on June 13, a Bengaluru fast-track court issued an arrest warrant for the BJP veteran, who was not subject to bail. However, as reported by the media, the Karnataka High Court stayed the arrest.

The former chief minister of Karnataka declared, “I have complete faith in the judiciary, and everyone knows everything. Justice will be served to me. On June 17, I shall come before the court.” Karnataka BJP leaders have claimed that the Congress is behind a “conspiracy” to bring the case to light.
