On Monday, President Draupadi Murmu took a holy dip in the Triveni Sangam at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. She offered prayers while standing in the Sangam, which is the meeting point of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers, after taking the sacred bath while wearing a white saree.
The world’s greatest spiritual and cultural event, the magnificent Maha Kumbh Mela, started on January 13 and attracts devotees from all over the country and the world. On the day of Mahashivratri, the celebration will come to an end on February 26. Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister, and Anandiben Patel, the governor of Uttar Pradesh, also went to the Sangam with President Murmu.
President Murmu will also do a darshan at Akshayavat and Hanuman Mandir after the holy dip, according to a previous statement released by Rashtrapati Bhavan. “She will also visit the Digital Kumbh Anubhav Centre,” the release continued. According to Rashtrapati Bhavan, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will go with the President to the Akshayavat and Bade Hanuman Temple.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sacred dip in the Sangam during his visit to the Maha Kumbh Mela just last week. The PM stood in the river, holding ‘rudraksha’ beads, and prayed and sang mantras. “Today, I got the great fortune of performing Puja-Archana after bathing in the holy Sangam at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. I got immense peace and satisfaction from the blessings of Maa Ganga. I prayed to her for the happiness, prosperity, health, and well-being of all the countrymen. Har-Har Gange!” PM Modi had posted on X.
The UP administration claims that during the current Maha Kumbh fair, which is held every 12 years, over 40 crore devotees have so far taken a holy bath at the Sangam. According to the government, eight crore devotees participated in the Amrit Snan on January 29, the day of Mauni Amavasya, which had the largest attendance to date.
A number of other well-known figures and prominent political figures have also enrolled in the Sangam. They include Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Samajwadi Party head Akhilesh Yadav, choreographer and director Remo D’Souza, and actors Hema Malini and Anupam Kher.
