Mahakumbh Mela Stampede News LIVE: A stampede broke out at the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Wednesday morning. This stampede occurred due to the increasing crowd on the Amrit Snan festival of Mauni Amavasya in the Mahakumbh Mela. There is a huge crowd of devotees on the Sangam coast in the Mahakumbh Mela right now. There is news of many people dying in this stampede. 

After the accident, NSG commandos took charge of the Sangam coast. Entry of common people was stopped in Sangam Nose area. To prevent the crowd from increasing, devotees have been banned from entering Prayagraj city as well. For this, the administration has been put on alert in the districts bordering the city.

Today is the Mauni Amavasya bath in Maha Kumbh, due to which about 5 crore devotees are expected to be present in the city. According to the administration, 8 to 10 crore devotees are expected to take a dip at 44 ghats including Sangam till late night today.

PM Modi has spoken to CM Yogi twice in an hour to take stock of the stampede situation in the Mahakumbh. However, as a precaution, today’s Amrit Snan in the Mahakumbh has been stopped for the time being. The Akharas themselves have taken this decision. After the stampede, the Akhara Parishad has decided to postpone the Amrit Snan. It is being told that dozens of people have been injured in the stampede near Sangam Nose. The injured were brought to the Central Hospital Mahakumbh by ambulance by creating a green corridor, where they are undergoing treatment. According to the tradition of Mahakumbh Mela, Sanyasi, Bairagi and Udasi Akharas reach the Sangam coast with a grand procession and take Amrit Snan in a fixed order. In this, Panchayati Akhara Mahanirvani takes Amrit Snan first. Earlier, the Mela administration had issued advisory for the devotees on Tuesday itself.

It is noteworthy that 4.83 crore people took a bath till 8 pm on Tuesday, a day before Mauni Amavasya, whereas before this 3.5 crore people took a dip in the Sangam on Makar Sankranti and 1.7 crore people took a dip on Paush Purnima.
