Devotees are still gathering to take the holy dip at the sacred banks of the Sangam at Mahakumbh 2025 as the banks witness overwhelming crowds. More than 36.35 lakh devotees are getting into the holy waters by 8 AM today. With 52.96 crore people having so far taken part in the ritualistic bathing, the total number stood at an all time high of pilgrims participating in the ritualistic bathing this time.

The Indian Railways is also running specific trains in order to accommodate the massive influx of devotees for smooth transportation. The pilgrimage journeys have been facilitated till February 16 through a total of 238 special trains. Though it’s a working day, a sea of devoted people keeps pouring into the holy confluence in order to emphasise the unmatched religious importance of Mahakumbh.

Another significant development occurred when a fire broke out in Sector 8 of the Mahakumbh area. The blaze started in a camp of a private organization, leaving behind tents and other necessary items turned to ashes. The fire brigade, however, brought the situation swiftly under control, and fortunately, there were no casualties. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by authorities to avoid any more such incidents in the future.

On Sunday evening, in Varanasi, 5.61 lakh devotees prayed at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, after 6.39 lakh people visited the temple on Saturday. It remains one of the biggest pilgrimage sites in large numbers during Mahakumbh.

Mahakumbh is also going to be a focal point of the Uttar Pradesh assembly Budget Session. Ahead of the session, Yogi Adityanath inaugurated major development projects at the Vidhan Bhavan, including the unveiling of Ashtadhatu’s (eight-metal) grand entrance and murals of state progress under his leadership.
