In view of the huge influx of devotees for the last special bathing date coinciding with Mahashivratri on February 26, for safety and convenience, the Mahakumbh Mela area will become a no vehicle zone from 4 pm on Tuesday and the same will be the case in entire Prayagraj from 6 pm.
These restrictions have been put in place by the authorities to guarantee easy crowd flow. However, a statement from the government states that trucks transporting necessities would be excluded.
According to a statement released by the Mela Police, the management has asked all guests to obey the rules and assist officials. “Devotees should bathe only at the nearest designated ghats based on their entry points. Those arriving from the Dakshini Jhunsi route should use Arail Ghat, while those from the Uttari Jhunsi route should head to Harishchandra Ghat and Old GT Ghat. Pande Kshetra entrants have been directed to Bharadwaj Ghat, Nagavasuki Ghat, Mori Ghat, Kali Ghat, Ram Ghat, and Hanuman Ghat. Devotees coming through the Arail sector should use Arail Ghat for bathing,” it stated.
“Essential services, including the transport of milk, vegetables, medicines, fuel, and emergency vehicles, will not be restricted. Government personnel such as doctors, police officers, and administrative staff will also have free movement,” it added.
The festival of Mahashivratri and the final day of the Maha Kumbh Mela are both observed on February 26.
According to the announcement, in order to avoid congestion at important pilgrimage destinations, devotees are encouraged to bathe at the closest ghats and pray at nearby Shiva temples. “To control the massive gathering, pontoon bridges will be managed based on crowd density. Officials have urged devotees to avoid unnecessary movement and return to their destinations promptly after completing rituals,” it stated.
All guests are urged by the Mela Police Administration to follow these guidelines and assist in keeping the peace during the significant religious gathering. This Maha Kumbh Mela, which is being hosted after a 12-year break, began on January 13 and ends on February 26. The Uttar Pradesh government reports that over 63 crore pilgrims and tourists have attended the mega expo.
