Surjewala indicated that whoever holds this position naturally becomes the face of the Congress party implying that Kamal Nath is likely to be their choice for the role of Chief Minister in the Assembly elections.

In another development speculation has emerged regarding Yashodhara Raje Scindia, a minister from Madhya Pradesh deciding not to contest in the elections. There are suggestions that her nephew Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is a Union Minister, might be considered for her Shivpuri constituency. Yashodhara Raje Scindia expressed her belief during an address in Shivpuri that it’s time for a new generation to enter politics.
This choice is, in line with a letter she sent to the BJP leadership in August, where she expressed her desire to not take part in the elections scheduled for the end of the year.
