Bilaspur: SIMS Hospital has had a big success as a rural woman with a tumor weighing more than 10 kg was removed from her stomach. The operation was performed today by the team under the leadership of Dr. Sangeeta Raman Jogi, Head of Gynecology Department.
The patient has recovered and is recuperating in Sims. Collector Avneesh Sharan and SIMS Dean Dr. KK Sahare have congratulated the doctors, nurses, and support team for giving new life to a poor patient by performing a successful operation.
SIMS Hospital Superintendent Dr S Nayak said that the patient, Lagani Bai, husband Harishankar, age 35, is a resident of village Chilahati in Bilaspur. She has been suffering from a stomach ache problem for the last one year. Swelling in the stomach started after 4 months, which was increasing.
After examination in a private hospital, it was found that there was a tumor in the stomach, but even after being seen in many hospitals, he could not get proper relief. The tumor had grown so much that she looked 9 months pregnant. The patient started having trouble breathing and other problems increased.
After which the woman was admitted to the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department of SIMS. After all the necessary tests, a complex operation was performed at SIMS on May 18, 2024, and a tumor weighing 10 kg was removed from the woman’s stomach which was in her ovary. The operation was done by Dr. Sangeeta Raman Jogi, Head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. His team included Dr. Durga Kaushik, Dr. Soma Bankat Kota, Dr. Varnika Pandey, Dr. Prachi Tiwari and other doctors. Anesthesia was given by Dr. Rakesh Nigam, Head of the Department of Anesthesia and his team. Staff nurse Deepa and other OT staff had special contribution in the operation. The patient’s operation was successful and she is recuperating in the gynecology department of SIMS.
