Chhindwara: The proposal to establish Pandhurna as a separate district is encountering significant resistance, particularly from the Saunsar region, where over 3000 objections have been formally submitted to the administration. Among these objections, more than 200 were addressed during a public hearing held at the district headquarters, Chhindwara, on Friday. The comprehensive report summarizing these objections will be promptly forwarded to the government for consideration.
The objections raised by Saunsar residents encompass approximately 20 key points. They argue that Saunsar Tehsil boasts greater prosperity compared to Pandhurna, thanks to its industrial development and the presence of renowned religious sites. Consequently, Saunsar lays a stronger claim to district status than Pandhurna, according to its residents. They advocate for the establishment of Saunsar as a separate district.
Furthermore, residents in the rural areas surrounding the Chhindwara development block headquarters, which fall under Saunsar Tehsil, express concerns that if Pandhurna were designated as a district, they would need to travel greater distances for administrative matters. They contend that if Saunsar is made a district, it would considerably alleviate these logistical challenges.
The objections were reviewed during a hearing conducted at the collectorate, presided over by ADM KC Bopche. Subsequently, a comprehensive report will be compiled and promptly submitted to the government.
It is anticipated that the process of dividing Pandhurna from Chhindwara district will be completed in the first week of October. The administration is preparing to send the file, complete with all relevant facts and objections, to the government, with the intention of addressing these objections in due course. Concurrently, the government, under the directives of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, is formulating a strategy to expedite the establishment of Pandhurna as a separate district.
