Bhopal: In a significant move, the Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has announced a substantial decision aimed at empowering women. The government has implemented a groundbreaking policy, offering a 35% reservation for women in state government positions within the state. Following the Chief Minister’s announcement, the General Administration Department promptly issued a notification to formalize this crucial step.
This historic decision translates into a substantial boost for women, as they will now have access to 35% reservation in direct recruitment opportunities across various government departments, with the exception of the forest department. The amendment to the Madhya Pradesh Civil Services (Special Provisions for appointment of women) Rules 1997 paves the way for this progressive move, ensuring a more inclusive representation of women in government jobs.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has consistently demonstrated his commitment to women’s welfare. Under the Ladli Behna Yojana, his government provides financial support of 1500 rupees to women’s accounts. Furthermore, Chouhan has already indicated plans to increase this monthly amount in the future, potentially elevating it to Rs 1500 per month.
This latest initiative aligns with the state’s broader efforts to empower women, fostering gender equality and expanding opportunities for women in the workforce. Madhya Pradesh continues to take strides towards creating a more inclusive and progressive society.
