Bhopal: On the last day to file nominations for the Assembly elections 2023 in Madhya Pradesh, many stalwarts including Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will file nominations today. Candidates will be able to make nominations from 11 am to 3 pm.

Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that so far 1343 candidates have submitted nomination papers in all the 230 assembly constituencies of the state. 

In Madhya Pradesh, as on October 24, 2023 (the second working day of filing nomination papers),a total of 155 nomination papers were submitted by 137 candidates in all 230 assembly constituencies of the state. The last date to fill the nomination form is 30th October.

Nominations will be scrutinized on October 31. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is 2 November. The voting process will be completed in a single phase on November 17 in the entire state. The counting of votes will take place on December 3.

Sources reveal that the administration is working promptly to conduct free, fair, and transparent elections. Continuous actions are being taken by the enforcement agencies in the state, wherein cash and other materials worth more than Rs 90 crore 66 lakh have been seized so far by various agencies. 

The joint team has recovered more than Rs 12 crore in cash, while illicit liquor worth Rs 18 crore, narcotics around Rs 8 crore, jewellery worth Rs 27 crore and other items worth around Rs 24 crore were also recovered. It is notable that in the 2018 assembly elections in the state, a total of about Rs 73 crore worth of material was seized by the enforcement agencies.
