Bhopal: With the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections approaching, the Congress party is being careful and thoughtful in its candidate selection process. Unlike the BJP, which announced its list of candidates before the implementation of the election code of conduct, the Congress has taken its time. Even though the code of conduct is expected to be enforced in the week of October, the Congress has already finalized over 100 candidates. Plans to release their first list shortly after October 5.
The Madhya Pradesh assembly elections are scheduled for November. While the BJP has already disclosed its candidates for 79 constituencies, everyone is eagerly waiting for the Congress list. Sources within the party have indicated that most candidates will be selected based on senior leader Kamal Nath’s recommendations. However, there could be a change in strategy as a response to the BJP’s decision to field leaders.
The Congress has opted for caution due to their Jan Aakrosh Yatra ( outcry marches) across the state. Releasing their candidate list before these marches conclude could potentially cause discontent and opposition within the party regarding ticket allocation. Therefore it is likely that they will unveil their roster after concluding their Jan Aakrosh Yatra on October 5.
The party has already been granted permission for a number of candidates including over 60 MLAs, while the remaining individuals are newcomers.
