The process of filing nominations for the first phase for the Lok Sabha Elections (2024) is going on. On the second day, Thursday, three candidates submitted 3 nomination papers. Till now a total of 6 candidates have filed 9 nomination papers.

Chief Electoral Officer Anupam Rajan said that on the second day of the nomination process, 1 candidate in Sidhi, 1 in Mandla (ST) and 1 in Balaghat have filed nomination papers. Till now, no candidate has filed nomination papers in the Lok Sabha parliamentary constituencies of Jabalpur and Chhindwara in the first phase. Chief Electoral Officer Rajan said that nomination papers will not be submitted in the district election offices on holidays. He said that due to March 23 being a holiday under the Fourth Saturday (Negotiable Instruments Act) and March 24 and 25 being public holidays (Holi), nomination papers will not be submitted on these days.

The last date for filing nomination papers for the first phase is March 27. Review of nomination papers will take place on March 28. Candidates who have filed nominations will be able to withdraw their names till March 30. Voting for the first phase will take place on Friday, April 19. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
