Bhopal: The Congress party unveiled its first list of candidates for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh elections at the precise timing of 9:09 AM, coinciding with the commencement of Navratri, a nine-day festival honoring Goddess Durga. KK Mishra, Chairman of the Media Cell of Madhya Pradesh Congress, clarified that the decision to announce the initial list featuring 144 candidates was made to align with the sanctity of the festival.

Mishra emphasized the cultural and traditional significance of considering auspicious timing in both politics and personal life. He underlined the importance of this alignment, highlighting the party’s commitment to its cultural values.

However, this move sparked a response from the BJP, which accused Congress of being inconsistent. BJP spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi questioned the Congress’s dedication to “Sanatana Dharma” and its simultaneous involvement in the “INDIA alliance,” which opposes the name of Lord Ram.

In its initial candidate list for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections, Congress showcased the state unit president and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, who will be contesting from Chhindwara. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is set to vie for his traditional Budhni constituency.

In addition to Madhya Pradesh, Congress has also unveiled its candidates for 30 seats in Chhattisgarh and 55 seats in Telangana, further demonstrating the party’s strategic preparations for the upcoming elections.
