Bhopal: CM Mohan Yadav has talked about forming a committee and conducting a study for redrawing the boundaries of divisions and districts in Madhya Pradesh. He said that this work should be started from Indore division as a pilot project. He also gave instructions to complete the redefinition of police station boundaries soon. He said that discussions should also be held with local public representatives in this regard.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav today addressed the division level review meeting held in Khargone of Indore division. He also reviewed the law and order situation along with the progress of the ongoing development works in the division. He said that after the division level review meetings, such review meetings will now be organized at the district level also. Chief Secretary Veera Rana and DGP Sudhir Kumar Saxena joined the meeting through video conferencing.
Madhya Pradesh, nestled in the heart of India, is divided into ten administrative divisions, further subdivided into 55 districts. These divisions and districts act as frameworks for efficient governance, each playing a crucial role in managing the diverse needs of the state.
The Ten Divisions:
- Bhopal Division: Encompasses the state capital, Bhopal, and surrounding districts, known for their historical and cultural significance.

- Indore Division: The industrial powerhouse of Madhya Pradesh, Indore Division holds the state’s most populous city, Indore, and neighboring districts known for textile and agricultural industries.
- Jabalpur Division: Nestled amidst the Vindhya and Satpura ranges, this division is known for its scenic beauty and historical sites like Jabalpur, the ‘Marble City’.
- Narmadapuram Division: Straddling the Narmada River, this division boasts rich tribal heritage and natural wonders like Kanha National Park.
- Rewa Division: Located in the eastern part of the state, Rewa Division features historical palaces and ancient temples, with Rewa city serving as a cultural hub.
- Sagar Division: Known for its fertile plains and historical sites like Sanchi Stupa, Sagar Division also houses major defense establishments.
- Shahdol Division: Situated in the north-eastern corner of the state, Shahdol Division is rich in mineral resources and tribal communities.
- Ujjain Division: Famous for the holy Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple and Ujjain Simhastha Kumbh Mela, this division holds immense religious significance.
District Boundaries:
Within each division, individual districts are demarcated by natural boundaries like rivers, hills, or by administrative considerations. Each district has its own district collector and administrative setup, responsible for implementing government policies, facilitating public services, and ensuring overall development.
