Madhya Pradesh: Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC), on Thursday, has proposed power tariff hike at a rate of 2.64% to be effective from April 1, 2022, according to Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) order issued on Thursday.

With the beginning of the financial year, the Heritage liquor policy-2022 is also active from Friday. The decision was taken in a cabinet meeting. Under the new policy, the state govt allowed the sale of liquor at airports in the state and select supermarkets in four big cities and introduced a home bar license to those earning Rs one crore or more. The cabinet also slashed the booze rates by 20 per cent in a bid to make them practical. The new excise policy also has a provision for tetra-packing liquor and scanning the QR code to check the authenticity of the product.

Criticism for the state govt excise policy poured in , as the medical expenses soared.  Around 800 drugs under the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM), including paracetamol, common antibiotics like azithromycin, doxycycline and medications for hypertension, diabetes and COVID-19 will increase by 10.7 per cent starting Friday. The rise was announced by NPPA, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority of India a week ago.

Activists have slammed the state govt for its decision to slash the booze rate ignorant of the medical essentials pricing which would burn a hole in the pockets of the poor and the middle class.
