Khandwa: After Thakur Surendra Singh Shera was granted a ticket by the Congress from Burhanpur in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly, a wave of anger and protests has erupted among party leaders. As a result, 23 Congress councilors have submitted their collective resignations. Several senior leaders of the Congress party have expressed their discontent with the ticket distribution. They have delivered their resignations to the national president and state president through the state in-charge and state vice-president.
There are reports suggesting that more officials may resign in the coming days. The ticket allocation in Madhya Pradesh has caused political turmoil within the Congress party, with several leaders resigning, and others demanding a change in their allocated tickets.
Surendra Singh Shera, an independent legislator from Burhanpur, arrived in Khandwa from Delhi after receiving a Congress ticket. During his journey from Delhi to Burhanpur, he was warmly welcomed by Congress workers in Khandwa. He expressed his gratitude to senior leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Kamal Nath, and Digvijay Singh, for reposing trust in him. He emphasized that there is no opposition to his candidacy in Burhanpur, as everyone in the constituency is like family to him.
It should be noted that the party released a list of 88 candidates for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections on Thursday night. Surendra Singh Shera, who is an independent MLA from Burhanpur, has been named as the party’s candidate from Burhanpur.
