Indore: A youth from Indore, Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In which he has demanded ‘Bharat Ratna’ for Mata Ahilya Bai Holkar. According to the information, Lokesh Mangal has demanded ‘Bharat Ratna’ from Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a copper plate and email.
Lokesh Mangal says that Matushree Ahilya Bai Holkar dedicated her life completely for public welfare. ‘Bharat Ratna’ would be the best honor for her to recognize her contribution and service. Mangal wrote in the letter- “Considering Ahilya Bai Holkar’s dedication to society and the social work done by her, she should be awarded this highest honor. This appeal has awakened new hopes among the people of Indore that their historical ruler should get proper respect.
Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar (31 May 1725 – 13 August 1795) was the Holkar Queen of the Maratha Malwa kingdom, India. Rajmata Ahilyabai was born in the village of Chondi in Jamkhed, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. She moved the capital to Maheshwar south of Indore on the Narmada River. She was the Rajmata and later became the ruling queen of Indore.
Ahilyabai’s husband Khanderao Holkar was killed in the battle of Kumbher in 1754. Twelve years later, her father-in-law, Malhar Rao Holkar, died. A year after that she was crowned as the queen of the Malwa kingdom. She tried to protect her kingdom from plundering invaders. She personally led armies into battle. She appointed Tukojirao Holkar as the Chief of Army.
Rani Ahilyabai was a great pioneer and builder of Hindu temples. She built hundreds of temples and Dharmashalas throughout India.
