BHOPAL: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the women police officers in MP will assume the responsibilities of traffic operations on March 6th. Women police personnel will be posted across intersections to maintain smooth traffic movement across Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, and other districts.
The Director General of Police issued directions that said that traffic operations will be manned by women police officers from 8 am on 6th March.
The police department has also announced to conduct awareness programs by organizing competitions in schools and setting up banners across public places.
It must be noted that a similar exercise was carried out last year. The initiative is aimed at boosting the confidence and self-esteem of women and conveying the message that they can work shoulder-to-shoulder with men,.
International Women’s Day is observed on March 8 to highlight the issues concerning women, especially to encourage gender equality.
