Rewa: The majestic 16-year- old white tigress, Vindhya, has passed away on 9 May, after a prolonged illness. Her final moments were marked by a touching ceremony held today, captured in a viral video that has touched hearts across social media platforms.

Vindhya was the first tigress to call the Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo White Tiger Safari and Zoo in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, her home. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her.

In the viral video, we see a procession of forest officials, locals, and zoo staff carrying Vindhya’s body on a wooden plank draped in a white sheet. The community gathers to pay their respects as the final rites are performed. The video ends with the cremation, a fitting farewell to this magnificent creature.

The District Forest Officer of Rewa, Chandrashekhar Singh, said “Vindhya was the first white tigress brought to the Maharaja Martand Singh Judeo White Tiger Safari from Van Vihar, Bhopal. For the past one and a half months, she had been suffering from some internal problem that could not be diagnosed, and later the forensic team diagnosed her with a kidney tumor. She had been eating less in the previous few weeks, but 15 days before she passed away, she had completely stopped eating. She died this morning in the early hours.”
