As per the reports, fires have been a regular occurrence in the various parts of Madhya Pradesh now that summer is gradually setting in. A recent accident took place in Nepanagar where a fire broke-out in two houses in the morning of Friday. The fire even caused severe damage to property as goods valued at lakhs were reduced to ashes, not to speak of the injuries sustained by the homeowners.
The event took place on Friday morning in the Hasanpura area of Dhulkot village of Pathankot district. For some reason, a fires started in two houses; it resulted in so much loss of property the occupant of the house also sustained burn injuries. Impressed by the faith the young man had in them, the villagers immediately took him to a nearby district hospital for treatment, and he was on admission.
From the discussions with the villagers, they were informed that around 4:00 AM Friday morning, the house was seen to be engulfed in flames. Sadly, everyone in the village helped to put it out, yet the fire quickly grew out of control and soon spread up to the house of our neighbour.
To prevent the fire from spreading further, the villagers used pipes from the Nal Jal Yojana (a state-sponsored borewell water supply program). Nevertheless, the fire spread over both houses throughout their attempts to put off the fire. When they got the information, the fire brigades of Nepanagar and Burhanpur reached the location and were successfully able to douse the fire. Many people out there in the neighbourhood believed that if the villagers had not been active, a number of houses could have been burnt down.
Reacting to the sad incident clearly marks the need for improved fire precautions and quick response in rural farming areas to avoid such huge losses in the future.
