Madhya Pradesh: CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan would preside over the Republic day celebrations in Indore, unfurl the national flag and address the State on Wednesday.While the incumbent Governor Mangubhai Patel will hoist the flag in Bhopal.The state authorities have mended the events for the day considering the rise in Omicron infections across the state.Along with the governor, state minister Bhupendra Singh will also attend the main function at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal.

While no members of the public will be allowed to attend the parade this year, restrictions are in place for invitees. A dress rehearsal for the event has been planned today. Security has been tightened and movement of general public near the Parade Ground is restricted. The invitees will be placed under strict vigilance to maintain social distancing and abiding to the COVID norms. The parade will be witness contingents of Police, Home Guards, Special Armed Forces, Jail Warden, CISF, RAF and NCC students. However, according to the announcement made by Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) of Madhya Pradesh, this year the students of Class 1 to Class 10 are not allowed to take part in the Republic Day programmes and the flag hoisting on this occasion.

Similar instructions have been by the general administration department to all the head of departments, divisional commissioners, collectors and chief executive officers of zila panchayats.
