Somnath-Jabalpur Express: The Somnath-Jabalpur Express train was about to reach the platform when two coaches derailed just 200 meters before. This created panic among the passengers. Officials reached the spot as soon as the information was received. The accident is said to have happened around 5.50 am. However, there is no report of anyone being killed or injured in the accident. The reasons for the accident are being investigated.
Giving information, CPRO of West Central Railway Harshit Srivastava said, “Train number 2291 Indore- Jabalpur Overnight Express train reached near Jabalpur railway station. The train was going towards platform number-6. Then suddenly two coaches of the train derailed at a distance of about 200 meters from the railway station. The train was at a very slow speed before stopping, due to which there was no harm to the passengers. If the speed of the train had been higher, a major accident could have occurred. All the passengers are safe and have left for their homes. The incident happened around 5.50 when the train was about to reach the platform.”
Earlier on August 17, at least 20 coaches of the Sabarmati Express derailed between Bhimsen and Kanpur station in Uttar Pradesh at 2:30 AM. Although Sabarmati Express is a passenger train, no casualties were reported. The derailment was confirmed by Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of Railways.
