Burhanpur: The village of Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh is still occupied by a single leopard, the primary source of terror for local villagers. The town’s presentation by a predator has led to the hunting fear of the rural livelihoods. Despite this, Forest Department officials and the Forest Department have received sentinel alerts. Still, most seem to turn a blind eye to the situation by not seeking more interventions.
The Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Forest Department explained that the being rendered was not a leopard but might be a jungle cat. On the other hand, the village of Gram Bambhada has people who swear that a leopard has been spotted in the vicinity area. Last week, a farmer was said to have undergone an animal attack when he sustained injuries. The tragedy was first indicated by the late response of the Forest Department, which took a five-day tour to reach the village that was already infected.
The SDO, part of the team, reiterated the likelihood of a jungle cat’s presence. However, villagers remain skeptical, as jungle cats are not known to attack humans. They recall how the creature, resembling a leopard, had carried off a domestic dog while appearing to attack the farmer. Additionally, there were signs of a cow being preyed upon near the cowshed.
The Villagers blamed the Forest Department for the attack, saying that a timely, vigilant response could have solved this crisis. The incident brought about a lot of anger, which stirred up safety challenges in the rural environs, the people in it, and their animals. They are convinced that the authorities should take even greater actions and that decision-making should be made to ensure public safety.
