SATNA: PM Modi on the occasion of Dhanteras would virtually join `Griha Pravesh’ event of 4.5 lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) at the state-level program organized in Satna. CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan would preside over the event.
“The prime minister will conduct their ‘griha pravesh’ (ceremony performed when entering one’s new house) virtually,” he said. Chouhan, who reviewed the preparations for the event, said earlier that the number of houses being built in the state under PMAY had gone up to one lakh per month from 20,000 to 25,000.
peaking about the event, Chouhan said it should be memorable, and asked the beneficiaries to draw ‘rangoli’ designs and light lamps to mark ‘Dhanteras’. “Various programmes should be held at the district, janpad and village levels. The prime minister may speak to some beneficiaries during the event,” the CM said.
So far under the PM Awas Yojana, the state govt has built more than 48 lakhs rural homes out of which 29 lakh have been handed over to the beneficiaries. In the first six months of this financial year, around 4,30,000 homes were constructed. Amongst these are 18,342 houses in the Guna and Sheopur districts of the state, an official said.
The project is being run on a 60:40 investment ratio where the central govt has released funds of Rs six thousand crores while the state incorporates Rs four thousand.
