Missionary School Exploitation: NPCR Chief Arrives in Dhindori; Interacts with Victims

DHINDORI: The National President of the Child Rights Protection Commission arrived at the Missionary school in Dindhori to investigate the sexual exploitation case registered against the Principal, the priest, a nun, and a guest teacher. Priyanka Kanungo reached Dindori on Tuesday morning and interacted with the parents of the victim girls. The officer has also announced financial assistance of Rs 10,000 to the affected girls.

The station in-charge Vijay Patle has also been suspended for his carelessness in executing his duty. A case has been registered against four persons, including the principal of a residential missionary school, following allegations of molestation and physical torture of the school’s girl students by school staff in the tribal-dominated Dindori district of Madhya Pradesh.

At least seven-eight girl students complained that they were subjected to corporal punishment by a nun. They also alleged that a male guest teacher often molested them and that they weren’t given proper food and stay at the school-cum-hostel.

One of the accused, the residential school’s principal Nan Singh Yadav, has been arrested, while three other accused (one of them being a woman), including a priest, a nun, and a guest teacher are on the run.  An FIR has been registered under Section 34, 354, 323 of IPC, Section 7,8 of POCSO and Juvenile Justice Act
