Jabalpur: A day after the fire broke out at the New Life Multispeciality hospital (NLMH) in Jabalpur, SP Siddhart Bahuguna said that an FIR has been filed against the directors and manager of the private hospital. Dr Nishant Gupta, Dr Suresh Patel, Dr Sanjay Patel, Dr Santosh Soni and Manager Ram Soni have been named in the FIR, the SP said while updating the development.
He further informed that the manager Ram Soni was detained and being interrogated. As per the preliminary investigation lapses including expiry of NoC, unavailability of extinguishers, no emergency gates etc were noted.
Around nine died in the fire that broke out on the hospital premises on Monday afternoon. Out of the total, five are said to be hospital patients for whom the CM also announced an ex gratia. At least nine others were severely injured; two amongst them are said to be critical and receiving treatment at the ICU in Netai Subash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur.
A probe has been ordered by the CM, for which he has constituted a four-member panel headed by Jabalpur Divisional Commissioner B Chandrashekar.
