Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh govt today is scheduled to distribute certificates to the beneficiaries by launching the ‘Chief Minister’s Electricity Bills Relief Scheme -2022’ at Sleemanabad in Katni district. Under the scheme, relief of Rs 6414 crore 32 lakh will be given to 88 lakh electricity consumers of the state by the state government.

As per the statement given by Energy Minister Pradyuman Singh Tomar, the bill has been implemented to clear the deferred dues of low-income household consumers due to the Pandemic.

“All such domestic consumers with a combined load of up to one kilowatt, whose outstanding principal amount and surcharge amount were deferred as of August 31, 2020, will have to submit an application in the format prescribed by the electricity distribution company to take advantage of the scheme,” he further said giving clarity on the bill.

As per the scheme, the full amount of the waived surcharge and 50 per cent of the waived principal amount will be borne by the distribution company and the remaining 50 per cent of the original amount will be borne by the state government.

The domestic users who paid the bills up to August 31, 2020, in the ‘Samadhan Yojana’ implemented by the Energy Department, will be refunded through the amount by adjusting it in their upcoming bills. For consumers who have been permanently disconnected, it will be necessary to complete the formalities as per the provisions of the Electricity Supply Code to take advantage of the scheme and get their connections back.
