Bhopal: Despite, the state assuring to aid the students, the rising tension forced the students to procure tickets themselves instead of waiting for govt’s help in lieu of their lives.
As per the information given by the state govt, 200 students from Madhya Pradesh studied in Ukraine and had approached for assistance. Miraj Jiwa Khan, who just returned to New Delhi from Ukraine, paying Rs a whopping 40,000 for the one-way ticket, said “The panic created by the media across the world has cost us a fortune to return home. Our career is hanging by the thread. Our families are so worried that we had no choice but to return home, paying whatever air ticket prices are.”
Jiwan, a resident of Ratlam is a fourth-year medical student at Ternopil National Medical University in Ukraine. He stated he never wanted to return without confirmation about the online classes. Several of them were reluctant to return home saying they couldn’t afford the travel costs and also awaited confirmation of online classes from their universities.
Another student named Harsith Sharma from Bhopal and Ayushi Jain from Indore also arrived in New Delhi last night.
Dreamliner Boeing 787 aircraft landed in New Delhi at midnight on 22nd February. The aircraft had left Kyiv at 6 pm with nearly 240 passengers on board. Tata-owned Air India under the Vande Bharat Mission had announced to engage three flights on February 22, 24, and 26 to Ukraine to ferry all Indians in the crisis struck nation.
