Bhopal: Before the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the Shivraj government can give a big gift to the officers and employees regarding the old pension. Amidst the demand for old pensions, a draft is being prepared to reform the National Pension System (NPS). The committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary is considering suggestions to be sent to the Central government.
Sources reveal that the MP government can guarantee a minimum pension to 4,50,000 employees. The pension can be up to 50 percent of the minimum salary. NPS is implemented in Madhya Pradesh since 2004 and the employees have been demanding NPS for a long time.
The Congress has also promised to restore the old pension scheme as soon as it comes to power. In such a situation, it is expected that the state government can play a masterstroke by guaranteeing a minimum pension to 4.50 lakh employees and officers in the government.
Employees can contribute 10 percent to NPS while government contributes 14 percent. Out of the total amount, 41.6 percent is contributed by the employee and 58.4 percent by the government. Out of this, 60 percent of the deposit amount of the government’s share is received on retirement and 40 percent of the back amount is given to the agencies decided by PFDRA for the monthly payment deposited in the form of annuity.
