Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government today clarified that no prohibitory orders have been issued banning the use of tandoor in the state. Dhaba owners and restaurant owners across the state were worried that a ban on tandoor and tandoori roti will negatively affect their business. Further, the decision to charge fines added to their worries.
News surfaced on the internet that Madhya Pradesh government has decided to ban tandoor in view of increasing air pollution across the state. Therefore, those found making rotis using open tandoor will be fined u to Rs 5 lakh for violating the state order.
Pollution has become a cause of concern for the people of the state as 5 cities of the state record poor Air Quality Index (AQI) and many cities record moderate. Betma, Khajuraho, Mainar, Mandaur, and Umaria record Poor AQI with PM 2.5 above 25. AQI in Bhopal, Burhanpur, Gwalior, Indore, JabalpurOrchha, Ratlam, and Ujjain is recorded as moderate.
