BHOPAL: Acting on the instructions given by the Union Health Minister, the MP govt organized mock drills to ensure the preparedness of the state’s healthcare system to battle the COVID crisis as the state witnesses a continuous surge.

The team of the district health department reached many hospitals, including the government-run Prakashcha and private hospitals catering to COVID patients on Monday morning.

As per the state health bulletin, 32 fresh cases were added in the past 24 hours, taking the active cases to 170. The positivity rate stood at 5.4 percent in the state. The state has reported a fourfold rise in its daily cases in a fortnight. On March 24, 7 districts added 49 active cases while as of Saturday, the health authorities noticed an alarming increase to 201 with at least one active case in 12 districts.

In Bhopal, nine fresh cases were reported in the past 24 hours which took the active count to 69. According to Indore Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Dr. Bhure Singh Setia, COVID in the city is increasing at a rate of 6 to 7 percent. Currently, there are 42 active cases in the city

Besides, mock drills were also conducted at  Hamidia Hospital of Gandhi Medical College to review the arrangement and preparation to combat COVID-19 in the state capital Bhopal.
