Betul, Madhya Pradesh: The rescue of 8-year-old Tanmay Sahu who fell in a borewell in Betul’s Mandvi village is going on. By 3 pm, the rescue team broke the rocks and dug a pit of about 45 feet deep near the borewell. Water started coming out of it, which is being taken out by installing a motor. The pit will be deepened by 5 feet more, then the work of making a 7 to 8 feet long tunnel will start to reach the child. NDRF team is operating the rescue operation. There was also a discussion with the blasting expert on making the tunnel.
Additional Collector Shyamendra Jaiswal told that Tanmay is trapped in the borewell at a depth of 36 to 38 feet. That’s why digging has been done to the depth. Now a tunnel will be made and with its help, Tanmay trapped in the borewell will be pulled out. Strong rock had come near the borewell at a depth of 45 feet, for which the help of bulldozers has been taken to break it. It took a long time. Now after taking out the water, the work of tunneling will be started with the help of technical experts of NDRF and SDERF.
CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who is monitoring the whole matter himself, said, “The administration has been instructed to take all necessary steps. On Wednesday, the officials told the CM that the team of NDRF-SDERF is continuously working. Prayers are also going on for Tanmay’s safety. People in the entire village are offering prayers and praying for his well-being. Students studying with Tanmay chanted the Gayatri Mantra at the Gayatri Mandir in Mandvi.”
The officials involved in the rescue work said that due to water leakage, more precautions will have to be taken while making the tunnel. Machinery will not be used for this. A team of experienced people has been prepared for this work. The team will do the work of tunneling with the help of a light drill machine.
The officer of the rescue team said, “The child is not moving in any way. We are trying to reach the child as soon as possible. Oxygen is being given in the borewell. The child was last talked to yesterday i.e. Tuesday around 5 pm. He said – it is very dark here. I am scared. Get me out fast.” The family was asked to talk to the child. The child’s father spoke to him. Tanmay studies in class II. Father Sunil Diyabar told that 8 days back he got a 400 feet deep bore done on the farm. His son has fallen in that borewell only. Our prayers are with the child.
