Heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh have led to the overflowing of the rivers and streams. There are flood-like conditions at some places. Meanwhile, due to continuous rains in Mandla since Monday evening, the Mandla-Seoni road has been closed due to the opening of five gates of the Thawar reservoir. The bridge built on the Thawar river in Nainpur has been submerged. Due to this there is a queue of vehicles to cross the bridge.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the western part of the state. The rainfall will even worsen the flood-like situation in the state.
Five gates of Thawar reservoir have been opened. Due to this Mandla Seoni road has been closed. The bridge built on Thawar river in Nainpur has submerged in about 5, 6 feet of water. Thawar river of Nainpur on the border of Mandla and Seoni district is in spate due to continuous rain in the district and surrounding areas since yesterday evening.
The Mandla to Seoni and Nagpur road was closed since last night due to excess water on the bridge. The Balaghat road from Nainpur is also closed due to the overflowing of rivers and streams. There is a long queue of vehicles going on both sides.
It is worth noting that for almost 4 years, the new bridge on Thawar river has been constructed at a very slow pace. But its work is not yet complete. In last year’s rain, the upper part of the bridge on Thawar river was washed away. Due to which the traffic was closed for a few days. Despite this, the administration is not paying any attention to this.
