Bhopal- Some good news for the farmers of Madhya Pradesh and they have no need to go here and there for subsidies. In order to help them, they will be given an e-RUPI, for which they will be able to receive amounts of subsidies directly. Further, the e−RUPI voucher shall be issued in the farmer’s name for obtaining seeds, fertilizers or equipment under subsidized schemes.
When a farmer goes to purchase seeds or fertilizers, he will let the cooperative society or the authorized seller know that they want to pay through an e-RUPI voucher. Once the item is bought, the subsidy amount will be debited at the vendor and go directly to the vendor’s account. In order to enhance this process, the farmer will receive a one-time password (OTP) in her or his mobile phone after scanning. This way the payment will go directly to the vendor’s account.
This system will only assist the farmer who has been issued with subsidy hence no other farmer will get access to the system. Thus, there will be no other person who will be able to benefit from it using the farmer’s name and avoid misusing it. Furthermore, the item for which the government is offering the subsidy can only be bought utilizing this system.
Earlier, in the case of cash transfers, there were cases of their abuse. This system will be implemented after the Lok Sabha elections had been completed. It is this arrangement that has been tried out in the pilot projects undertaken in the Raisen and Narmadapuram districts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called for the adoption of the e- RUPI platform so that the distribution of subsidies would be transparent. The officials of the Department of Agriculture in Madhya Pradesh are ready to apply this innovation in the coverage of the state.
