Bhopal- Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of Madhya Pradesh has made an impassioned declaration, asserting that he has redefined the essence of politics in the state. Speaking emotionally to a gathering, particularly addressing women as his sisters, Chouhan believed they would feel his absence when he is no longer in office. The occasion was a public address in Ladkui, part of his Budhni assembly constituency in Sehore district.

As the state assembly elections are scheduled for the end of this year, Chouhan took the opportunity to reflect on his tenure. He stated, “I have changed the definition of politics in Madhya Pradesh…You have seen the Congress rule for years. Have you ever seen them caring about the public?”

Addressing the women in the audience, he continued, “My sisters, you will not find a brother like me; you will miss me when I am not around.”

In August, Chouhan announced an increase in financial aid under the Ladli Behna scheme, raising it from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,250 per month, and also introduced a 35 per cent reservation for women in government jobs.

His emotional speeches have garnered attention recently, including statements indicating his disinterest in political positions. He remarked in a gathering in Khargone, “If my flesh and bones are useful to you (the public) and children, then my life will be successful.” He has repeatedly emphasised running a “family” rather than a government.

Political opponents have weighed in as the state awaits the announcement of the assembly election schedule. Kamal Nath, the Madhya Pradesh Congress chief, claimed that Chouhan would be remembered for his false promises and announcements. Meanwhile, former state Congress president Arun Yadav interpreted Chouhan’s statements as a sign that his exit from power was inevitable.

The upcoming assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh will be closely watched as political dynamics continue evolving.
