Bhopal: The state of Madhya Pradesh has been in the national spotlight for the past few weeks over its new controversy surrounding the Nutrition Meal Scheme. The state assembly’s second day of the monsoon session ended in a commotion. The leader of the opposition, Govind Singh, demanded a discussion on an adjournment motion over an audit report highlighting issues in the meal scheme. The ruling party remained adamant that an adjournment motion is not needed.
The opposition claimed that yesterday, the speaker had assured an adjournment motion after the statement of the Chief Minister. On the other hand, state assembly Affairs Minister, Narottam Mishra responded that there was no such assurance by the speaker.
Considering the heavy turmoil, the assembly was first postponed for 10 minutes and then for the complete question hour. Later, the whole monsoon session of the state assembly was adjourned, two days before the scheduled time.
Yesterday, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in his statement, denied any irregularities in the implementation of the scheme. He explained that many vehicles mentioned in the Audior General Audit report were not even registered on the transport department’s “Vahan” portal.
He further claimed that the report was just a draft and not the final version. Moreover, the report concerns the time period between 2018 and 2021, which includes 15 months of Congress government too, added the Chief Minister.
