INDORE: The district court on Wednesday denied pre-arrest bail to the principal of the govt law college and a professor against whom an FIR was registered in connection to a book kept at the college library.
The prosecution argued that the accused college principal Inam-Ur-Rahman, and professor Mirza Moziz Beig, who has resigned instigated religious feelings by keeping the book “Violence and Criminal Justice System” in the college library. Advocate Abhinav Dhanotkar representing the principal and the professor said his clients had no role in purchasing and keeping the book in the college library.
A team to arrest the author of a controversial book against whom a case was registered last week. A seven-member committee was constituted by the higher education department on Tuesday which recorded the statement of 250 students of the college and teachers regarding the controversy and ABVP’s allegations.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) had staged a protest on the premises of the government Law College in Indore alleging the book, being taught to students, has very objectionable contents against the Hindu community and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, which encourages religious fundamentalism.
