New Delhi: IMD has warned of a heatwave in the coming five days to continue over Northwest, Central & West India.
As per the notice issued by IMD, isolated heatwave conditions are predicted in East Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh for five days while Himachal Pradesh, South Haryana- Delhi, Southwest UP, and Chhattisgarh would see a dramatic rise in temperature during 31st March-03 rd April.
It is likely to reduce spatially and in terms of intensity over these areas during 01st-04th April with Heatwave conditions in isolated pockets over these areas during the same period, it said.
On Thursday a severe heatwave swept, Gwalior, Tikamgarh and parts of Chhatarpur district in Madhya Pradesh as the temperature climbed to 43 degrees Celsius.
The highest maximum temperature of 43 degrees was recorded in Khandwa and Damoh districts as well as at Khajuraho and Nowgaon in Chhatarpur district, said P K Saha, the senior-most meteorologist at the IMD Bhopal office.
The maximum temperatures in four major cities of MP were 40.4 degrees in Bhopal, 38.9 (three degrees above normal) in Indore, Jabalpur 40.7 (five degrees above normal) and Gwalior 41.8 degrees (seven degrees above normal).
