Bhopal: The IMD in a fresh notice issued an orange alert for several districts of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Himachal for Friday. A heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for Madhya Pradesh for 25 districts.
With the incessant torrential rains, at least seven persons, including a toddler girl, were swept away in flooded rivers and nullahs in the Indore and Betul district in the past 24 hours.
In Indore a mother and son were washed as the former jumped in gushing water to save her son who was drowning. In Betul, at least five persons were lost in flooded rivers and nullahs in three places.
In a daily weather update, the IMD on Thursday said Widespread to isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is very likely over Madhya Pradesh till 14th August; Chhattisgarh on 13th and 15th; Gujarat on 12th, 13th and 15th; Konkan, Goa, and central Maharashtra during 12th-15th August 2022.
