Jabalpur: In a search operation conducted at Bishop PC Singh moderator of CNI in India- the EOW officials seized Rs 1.65 crore in cash and Rs 14 lakh worth foreign currencies from the residence, an official release stated.

EOW DG Ajay Sharma in a media interaction asserted the matter was being probed from angles including ‘ the origin of foreign currency’. As per insights, 18,000 US Dollars and 118 British pounds were recovered precisely during the raid. Besides incriminating documents in connection to the case lodged, documents on 17 additional properties, 48 bank accounts and jewellery worth Rs 80.72 lakh were recovered.

Singh is accused of cheating and forgery to gain the leadership of the diocesan education board. The search was launched after a complaint of swindling of over Rs 2.7 crore collected in the name of school fess from the students at the educational institutes run by the Board, for religious entities and personal usage.

Singh is currently in Germany and is accused of 84 criminal cases linked to fraud and forgery in several states including MP, Maharashtra, Punjab, Jharkhand, UP and Rajasthan.
