Bairasia district, MP: Flooding of another village was averted after officials took cognizance of the complaint filed by the Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat of Bairasia district and repaired the leakage in the Garethia Dam situated in Dungaria.
The incident came to light after the watchman noticed a crack in the dam wall and immediately reported to the sarpanch. At first the SDM was approached but there was no response initiated and so the SDO of the water resource department was informed and a team was immediately dispatched.
A crack of 15-20 feet in size was repaired by the water resource team, the sarpanch said in a media interaction.
Earlier on Friday, eight engineers of the state water resources department were suspended with immediate effect in connection with the breach in Karam dam earlier this month in Dhar district.
People from 12 villages in Dhar and six in Khargone were shifted. A channel had to be dug to drain out water from the dam, which reduced the pressure of it bursting and defused the situation some days later.
